(cheap) things i’ve bought that i love: mustard bath

Inspired by Mindy Kaling’s hilarious blog (which is just pure genius and a delight to read at 10:00 am on a Thursday morning if you’re still drinking coffee in your p.j.s, trying to get up the gumption to do something productive, like make some preserved lemon rinds with the 3 pounds of lemons you accidentally bought at Wegmans because you still don’t have a grip on yourself in the grocery stores here), I decided to do a series of things I’ve bought that I love but cheap things, not $80 bottles of glitter powder, etc.  So, ahem, here we go.

Anyway, I’ve written about this stuff before, but it bears repeating: Dr. Singha’s Mustard Bath…… It’s like a spa treatment for 1/100000th the cost.  This golden colored powder (real mustard powder, but it’s awesome, not gross) plus rosemary, wintergreen, thyme, and eucalyptus oils.  That’s basically it.  No scary ingredients.  It’s nice and bracing and strong.  Mustard bath is for people who like their coffee black and their whiskey straight up.  And it’s heaven if you have a cold or sinus infection.

You can usually buy it at Whole Foods, but it is cheaper at iHerb.com (which sells a HUGE variety of natural and organic beauty products, supplements, etc., and you can use coupon code WER470 to get $5 off your first purchase!).  Here’s what iHerb.com has to say about Dr. Singha’s Mustard Bath:

“Mustard is renowned for its stimulating, cleansing and rejuvenating qualities. The warmth of the Mustard assists in opening the pores of your skin helping you to sweat out impurities… Dr. Shyam Singha… recommended his Ayurvedic formula as an aid in relieving many ailments. These including Stress, Muscle and Joint Soreness, Congestion, Skin Conditions, Periodic Tensions and Sleeplessness. Use as a perfect complement to any Purification and Tissue Cleansing Program.”

Let’s be honest.  We could all use some help with our tissue cleansing programs, right? 20 minutes soaking in this stuff and you will feel like a million bucks. Buy some for me for Christmas, and buy some for yourself to help you through holiday craziness! (Ok, so you don’t have to buy any for me, but you can if you want…..)

If you are a first time buyer from iherb.com, you can use the code WER470 to get $5 off your purchase! And they have free shipping on purchases over $20!  The 8 oz. size is less than $8, and the $32 oz. size is $23.32 (a great, amazing, wonderful deal– $5 off that, and no shipping….)
