So Mindy Kaling included Josie Maran’s Argan Oil in a post on things that would make great holiday gifts. It costs $96 for 4 ounces. Which is obviously ludicrous. But this is what she says about it:
“Josie Maran’s Argan Oil is one of those miracle beauty products that when you put it on your face, it addresses every problem (acne, acne scars, dry skin, oily skin, wrinkles) and just makes your skin supple with a terrific subtle glow.”
This is what Sephora says about argan oil:
“Josie Maran’s best-selling 100% pure organic argan oil has a high concentration of Vitamin E and essential fatty acids… The oil delivers intense moisture and reduces the appearance of fine lines. With regular use, Argan Oil is widely reported to heal existing acne blemishes, prevent the occurrence of new breakouts, and help reduce scarring. Gentle enough for all skin types, it can be used for everything from moisturizing skin and hair to softening cuticles.”
Wow, right? Obviously I am not going to spend $96 on argan oil. That would be insane. But people with terrible skin are not always wise. When your skin breaks out all the time and it is now officially the year you are going to turn 30 and you have never not had skin that breaks out for the past oh 17 years or so you start getting desperate and $96 for skin oil that promises relief doesn’t sound so crazy anymore. So for the past few days I have been just reading through the reviews of Josie Maran’s argan oil on the Sephora website and longing. Longing for it. But I decided, before I spent that much, I would try to see if anyone else sold argan oil, maybe for a tiny bit less and voila:
The great thing is that ALL argan oil is Fair Trade, produced by a women’s cooperative in Morocco, so wherever you buy it, it’s going to benefit the women’s co-op. Read more here.
I ordered some yesterday (for $17 rather than $96, sorry Josie!!) with Christmas money and I’ll report back with how it works once I find out!
